Great Comedy Double Acts

1. Morecambe and Wise
They were the first truly great double act in Britain and with their unique chemistry captured the hearts of the country.

2. Reeves and Mortimer
Collaborated on numerous shows - Shooting stars, Catterick, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and live acts at various charity events. Their offbeat humour is particularly popular with students and they are responsible for introducing Matt Lucas to the viewing public as a drum playing baby on Shooting stars. It doesn't get more surreal than that.

3. Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor
Both excellent in their own right but at their best when in films together (See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Silver Streak, Stir Crazy). Neither conformed to the stereotype of a comedian and that was exactly what made them successful.

4. Ant and Dec
Our favourite double act of present day - not that there are many to choose from. Varied talents including acting (Alien Autopsy/Byker Grove), singing/rapping and presenting. Even got to interview the 3 Princes to commemorate the anniversary of the Prince's Trust.

5. Bert and Ernie
Technically, well in no way at all, people but certainly the best muppet comedy act in history. It's the perfect partnership - Ernie is streetwise, Bert is naive and there'll never be any arguments over who gets the best lines!

6. Beavis and Butthead
The first of our non human duos. Beavis and Butthead don't do much really but grunt but trust us it's funny.

7. Laurel and Hardy
Not that funny anymore but at the time they were ground breaking. Imagine it; its the late 1920s and you can see a fat American and a skinny Brit in some comedy japes. Who wouldn't be in hysterics?

8. Matt Lucas and David Walliams
Who would have thought a channel swimmer and a drum playing baby could make such a successful comedy duo. Currently one of the most successful comedy duos in the UK due to
Little Britain.

9. French and Saunders
The first women it was actually ok to think were funny rather than fanciable. Definitely not funny now though, should go their own ways from now on.
