Questions You Have Always Wanted To Ask

1. Will sleeping in front of a fan give you a stiff neck?
Unless you are unfortunate enough to fall asleep in front of an industrial fan, which causes your head to shake from side to side due to it's sheer force, your neck should be perfectly safe. If you can fall asleep in front of an industrial fan, a sore neck is probably the least of your health worries.

2. Is it bad to crack your knuckles?
Cracking your knuckles with lead to arthritis in later life, right? Erm, no. The crack is made by bubbles bursting in the syovial fluid surrounding the joints. Cracking your knuckles may lead to a decrease in grip strength and stretching of the surrounding ligaments, as well as a clip round the head for being irritating, but it will not lead to arthritis.

3. Can eating poppy seeds make you test positive for heroine?
I know what you are thinking, what a stupid question but as poppies are the source of opium used to make heroine it's not that stupid. Poppy seeds do not get you high but will make your urine test positive for opiates. Just how many poppy seeds you have to eat is open to debate but don't worry there are other tests which can be done to confirm whether you are a smack head!

4. Do cucumbers reduce puffy eyes?
Yes and no. Using cucumber slices on the eyes will reduce puffiness but this is due to the high water content cooling and constricting the blood vessels around the eyes and not actually the cucumber itself. However, if it works who's complaining how?

5. Should you put butter on a burn?
Quite simply, no. Butter actually traps the heat in, prolongs the pain and is very messy. Plus the smell may make you hungry! The best, though most boring, option is to run the burn under cold water and then apply antibiotic cream. Obviously if it is a bad burn go to hospital - we don't want anyone blaming us for their stupidity.

6. Can you break your penis?
The eye watering answer is, I'm afraid, yes. Although the penis does not contain a bone, when erect it can be ruptured and will require surgery to prevent sexual dysfunction - if you have not been put off for life anyway!

7. Does weeing on a jellyfish sting stop the burning?
Ruling out the Portuguese man-of-war and the Australian box jellyfish jellyfish stings are unpleasant and painful but not normally life threatening. However, for all those people who have weed on a jellyfish sting or had their jelly fish sting weed on to alleviate the pain you may now die of shame. It does not help reduce the burning. In fact, it makes it worse!

8. How long does it take to digest chewing gum?
We've all done it. Spitting it out looks so rude and besides, swallowing it gives you such a guilty pleasure. Before we go any further I'm talking chewing gum. Chewing gum does not sit in your stomach digesting over years, clogging up your passages but is passed through your body undigested.

9. Can you catch a cold from cold weather?
Despite every man and his dog believing otherwise you cannot catch a cold from cold weather.
A cold is a virus, simple as that!
