How
Stars Were Discovered
1.
See Emily Play - Pink Floyd.
Third single from Pink Floyd. The slide guitar on the
record was apparently done with a Zippo lighter.
2.
My Sarah - Thin Lizzy.
An
unusually slow number from the rock legends.
3.
Oh
Ellen - Gob
Not
the most romantic band but it's a unique song for a unique
name.
4.
Dizzy
Miss Lizzie - Larry Williams.
Written and performed by Larry Williams in 1958 but later
covered by numerous artists including, most famously, The
Beatles.
5.
What
Katie Did - The Libertines.
Sang by Indie rockers The Libertines on their second album
The Libertines. Suprisingly good.
6.
Laura - Billy Joel.
OK, he does swear in it - but it is a great
song.
7.
Ruby
- Kaiser Chiefs
The catchiest song for years making it great value for
money. Hear it at 3 you'll still be singing it at 10!.
8.
Alison - Elvis Costello
Great song with some of the best lyrics ever written.
However, probably a bit bitter for a love song!
9.
Song For Whoever - Beautiful South
For those with girlfriends who have ridiculous
names, or those who want to increase their chances. The song
for whoever covers a number of girls: "Jennifer, Alison,
Phillipa, Sue, Deborah, Annabelle too!"
